In a tight Gubernatorial Primary, one campaign chose to utilize Zingback to communicate the candidate’s stand on local issues and ask for support from those willing to run to become state delegates at their local precinct caucuses. This new medium stood out from the flood of direct mail overloading mailboxes, providing a unique and unmatched response feature and the ability to be customized at a moment’s notice. Because of Zingback’s enormous flexibility, the messages were targeted to various counties and changed “on-the-fly if they did not seem to be connecting with the emotion of the voters, or if a new issue made headline news. The campaign found Zingback to be one of the most effective tools ever used to recruit delegates. Each call communicated the warmth, inflection and sincerity of Jim’s voice, which is impossible to convey with traditional direct mail. The John Swallow for Congress campaign utilized Zingback as a communication tool to reach out to state delegates. Swallow sent out messages to solicit questions and feedback about the issues that were the most important to each delegate. They also used Zingback to gauge candidate support among the delegates. Each delegate received the message and was invited to share their feelings about campaign issues and to indicate whether they were supporting Swallow at the state convention. It allowed Swallow to hear personally from the delegates and incorporate their feedback into his campaign. It was an easy and quick way to contact and connect with the delegates and provided an excellent medium for collecting delegate input.

Salt Lake County utilized Zingback to recruit election judges for the 2004 general elections. The message from the County Clerk went out to approximately 11,500 targeted individuals in the County inquiring about their interest in becoming a paid election judge for the upcoming November elections. In one morning, Zingback reached 60% of the contacts and had responses from 27%.

County officials had been hoping to recruit 100 judges through the Zingback campaign. They were very excited because over 100 people had called their office the morning of the campaign in response to the message. The person in charge was flabbergasted when their Client Service Representative informed him that there were 600 additional positive responses awaiting him on-line (he hadn’t checked the web site yet)! He couldn’t believe that we had a 10% response rate from contacts reached! He shared that his actual total goal for the entire election was 700 judges - Zingback achieved that for him in a single morning! He was so excited that he insisted on personally contacting the rest of the counties in Utah (and other departments in the County) to share his success!
